Yoga teaches balance, posture and breathing skills to induce pure relaxation, as well as how to expand awareness is all states of consciousness. Although it has become a contagious workout in recent years, the exercise has been around for many generations.

Yoga is the process of becoming free from limited definitions of the field of consciousness. The word means union or working with the God consciousness. There are many styles of yoga and almost directly correlates with meditation, which when done correctly, enhances clarity, optimism and inspiration.

Each style helps to balance the mind, body and soul. Tantra yoga accepts desire as the prime motivating force of the universe and studies the tree of life, rather than limiting itself to a single branch of the tree. Karma yoga is the path of doing the right thing, following one’s personal Dharma and accepting destiny as it comes. Hatha yoga is one of the more popular styles and can be a powerful therapeutic tool for muscle and joint problems.

The benefits of yoga can be enjoyed if done on a monthly, weekly or daily basis. Regular practice can improve postures and the use of breath and gravity to relax further into each pose. The result of practicing yoga is enhanced flexibility and strength and tones the body. Weak parts of the body are strengthened and stretched and can realign the body if done correctly. Ancient practices arouse the inner fire to cleanse and strengthen the body by synchronizing movement with one’s breath.

When practicing yoga, one becomes aware of what is happening inside the body and increased flexibility is comfortable throughout each session. Concentration is increased and the mind becomes clear and soothed from any outside conflict. Beneficial results include greater vitality, presence of mind, alertness and longer life.
